Dr. Nusaiba Al-Refae is the Head of the Cytopathology Unit at Sabah Hospital in Kuwait. She completed her Fellowship in Cytopathology at Porto University in Portugal and holds the Kuwait Board in Anatomical Pathology and Cytopathology. Additionally, she serves as a clinical tutor at the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialization, where she plays a vital role in mentoring the next generation of pathologists. With over a decade of experience, Dr. Al-Refae has made signicant contributions to research, including studies on digital and telecytology for thyroid lesion diagnostics, published in esteemed journals such as Head and Neck Pathology and Acta Cytologica.
Dr. Zaidan Al Mazidi, gained his MBChB in 1975 and his DCH in Dublin in 1978. In London, he completes his Ph.D. in endocrinology from the Faculty of Medicine, University college of London, (UCL), in 1989. Dr. Al Mazidi’s research focuses on different endocrine disorders and has led to forty-seven publications in local and international medical journals. Dr. Al Mazidi has also worked on organizing thirty-five local and international conferences. For the time being, he is the head of the Kuwaiti Endocrine Society.
Dr. Fajer Altammar is a Royal College certified Pediatrician and Pediatric Intensivist with a second fellowhsip in Pediatric Emergency Medicine. She currently serves as the Head of Pediatrics Department in Jahra Hospital. She is also a clinical tutor in Kuwait Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Altammar is a co-founding member of Kuwait PICU Taskforce. She has multiple interests including PICU liberation, simulation, critical thinking and leadership.
Dr. Nisreen M. Khalifa is a Consultant Pediatric Oncologist in the Solid Tumor Unit at the NBK Children’s Hospital in Kuwait. Dr. Khalifa received her MD degree in 1992 from Assiut University in Egypt and completed her training in General Pediatrics in Assiut University Hospitals. She received her MSc degree in Pediatrics from Assiut University in 1997. Dr. Khalifa started her career in Oncology at the South Egypt Cancer Institute in Assiut University in 1998. She trained at National Cancer Institute. Cairo University before receiving her PhD in Pediatric Oncology in 2006 and becoming a faculty member at the South Egypt Cancer Institute. Dr. Khalifa joined the Pediatric Unit in the Medical Oncology Department at the Kuwait Cancer Control Centre in 2007. She later joined the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Department at the NBK Children’s Hospital as a consultant. Over her 22 years of practice, Dr. Khalifa has developed experience in solid tumors in children including sarcomas, brain tumors and malignant lymphomas.
Dr. Danah AlSharrah is a Graduate of the Royal college of Surgeons, Ireland in 2015. She is a Kuwait Board certified Pediatrician who graduated in 2022. Currently she is a pediatric infectious disease fellow in the University of Calgary Alberta. She has special interests in antimicrobial stewardship and vaccinology.
He has completed his MBBS from India followed by DCH. Undergone DNB training and has completed Post Graduate program in Pediatric Nutrition ( Boston University school of medicine ), ICMR course in Medical Genetics and counseling from SGPGI , India..
He has 20 years of experience in NICU and PICU in India and Kuwait, provided editorial support for the book “ABC of Mechanical ventilation for beginner”.
Dr. Faisal bader Alsaqabi he is a graduate of Royal college of physician at university of Toronto -Ontario Canada. where he did his internal medicine and rheumatology fellow ship at university Health Network Hospitals. during his residency he has the pleasure to works with top rheumatology scientist at North America like Toronto western rheumatology clinic at psoriasis clinic, systemic clinic, and Sjogren clinic. He works with Mount -Sinai Hospital at rheumatoid arthritis clinic, early rheumatoid arthritis clinic, vasculitis clinic and scleroderma clinic.
Dr. Faisal exposed to huge number of patients flow as new and follow up, for that exposed to different guidelines and diagnostic criteria. Dr faisal work at research centre at Toronto western Hospital for both psoriatic arthritis and systemic lupus clinic.
Dr. Faisal Alsaqabi established 3th rheumatology unit in Kuwait after he arrived from Canada in 2006 where he applied all the guidelines and inclusion criteria at North American in Kuwait.2018 first three sub-subspecialities clinic opened at Al-Sabah Medical area that include systemic lupus-rheumatoid arthritis-and psoriatic arthritis, and in 2022 vasculitis clinic.
Dr. Faisal had more than 28 yrs. of experience and give lectures in a numbers of scientific and community conferences nation and gulf area, he established more than 11 treatment guidelines at Al-Sabah Medical Area and two-chapters reviews.

Dr. Shareefa Al-Dhaferi is certified pediatric gastroenterologist from King Faisal hospital in Saudi Arabia in 2018. She is currently working as consultant pediatric gastroenterologist in pediatric department in Sabah hospital in Kuwait. She has been speaker in pediatric conference in Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi, UAE. She is also a tutor for Kuwaiti board residents.
Dr. Shareefa holds Bachelor Degree in Medicine and Surgery from Kuwait University in addition to certificate in Pediatrics from the Kuwaiti board. She finished her fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition with honor and was chief fellow and best fellow in KFSHRC in Riyadh, KSA.
Dr. Kishore Thanasegra Pandian , is currently a Pediatric Registrar working in the Pediatric ICU of Al Sabah hospital since 2022. He completed his Bachelors in Medicine and surgery in University of Health Sciences in India and completed a Diploma in Child Health and a Diploma of National Board in India. He also worked in India as a pediatrician both in General pediatrics and intensive care. He published papers on infant with ITP and neonatal salmonella meningitis.
Dr. Sankar, currently a Senior Specialist, has been working in PICU, Al Sabah Hospital for the last 20 years. He completed his M.D. Pediatrics from Stanley Medical College, Chennai, India. He worked a s Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in Sri Ramachandra University.
Chennai, India before joining PICU AlSabah Hospital in 2004. He was instructor of Kuwait Advanced Pediatric Airway.
Management (KAPAM) . He has published paper on Pseudohyperkalaemia in Infantile Leukaemia. His fields of interest are ultrasound guided vascular access, non invasive ventilation and pulmonolgy.
Dr. Ali is a developmental pediatric specialist with a background in child health and development. After graduating from Kuwait University’s Faculty of Medicine, he completed a pediatrics residency with the Kuwait Board, followed by a fellowship in developmental pediatrics at McMaster University.
A Pediatric Emergency Physician at AlSabah Hospital with over 15 years of experience in providing critical care to children. Educated at Kuwait University and Bonn/Aachen Germany. Possessing a strong foundation in general pediatrics and pediatric emergency and a deep-rooted passion for medical education. I have received my PhD from Bilkent University, Molecular Biology and Genetics department in 2009. During my PhD, I focused on the transcriptional and hormonal regulation of breast cancer. I have investigated the molecular regulation of the Sodium/Iodide Symporter (NIS) in breast cancer cells and during lactation as this has a potential effect on the treatment of Breast Cancer. During this research, we have identified a new gene having a role in RAS Pathway. I have characterized the RasGEF1 family of guanine nucleotide exchange factors, identifying Rap2 as a substrate of RasGEF1A and RasGEF1B. I also collaborated with Hacettepe University Medical School on projects related to hepatocellular carcinoma and thyroid-specific gene regulation.
During my Ph.D., I spent 1 year at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Physiology in Dortmund, Germany, working with Prof. Alfred Wittinghofer as a visitor scientist
After completing my Ph.D., I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology. I contributed to research on heterotrimeric G protein translocation in photoreceptor cells, particularly in relation to vision and night blindness in mouse and zebrafish models. My clinical interests led me to participate in two clinical trials at the University of Miami Hospital and complete the “Designing and Managing Clinical Trials in Eye Research” certificate program through ARVO.
At the end of 2011, I transitioned to the industry as Sales and Marketing Manager at Sacem Life Technologies, a distributor company serving the Molecular Biology and Genetics research sector. In 2016, I joined Leica Biosystems as Product Marketing Manager, then becoming Market Development Manager, then Sales Enablement Manager for the Advanced Staining portfolio for the whole METAR Region. After 2022, I became Channel Partner Manager then finally Regional Sales Manager for the Middle East Region.
Dr. Tasneem Jarkhi completed her undergraduate medical degree from University College Cork (UCC) in Ireland. Then she completed her residency program in the Kuwaiti Board of General Pediatrics (KIMS). Later, Dr. Jarkhi completed a fellowship in Developmental Pediatrics from McMaster University in Canada in 2023. She recently completed a second fellowship in Pediatrics Spasticity from McMaster University in 2024. She currently works as a specialist in the Developmental Pediatrics Unit at Al-Sabah Hospital.
Hematopathology Senior registrar at AL-Sabah Hospital. Graduated from Assuit University (MBBS, 2004), earned a Master’s in Clinical Pathology (2010) and an MD in Hematology (2017) from the same institution. Previously served as a resident doctor at Assuit university hospitals, progressing to assistant professor of Hematolopathology at clinical pathology departement of the same institution.
Dr. Eman Al Awadhi is a dedicated, results-driven nurse leader, passionate and committed to excellence with a proven ability to set and meet high standards. She fosters a culture of open communication and collaborative relationship through an inclusive, team-oriented approach. Her evidence-based leadership style enables her to design and implement strategic action plans, navigate complex decision-making and confidently drive essential transformations in the nursing profession.
She is currently the Nursing Director at the Nursing Services Administration, Ministry of Health, Kuwait, since 2022. She worked as the Superintendent of Coordination and Follow Up from 2019 to 2022 and Superintendent of Planning and Training from 2014 to 2019 within the Nursing Services Administration, Ministry of Health.
In 2014, Dr.Eman acquired her PhD in nursing and Master's degree in Nursing in 2010 at the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from the Allied Health and Nursing College, Kuwait in 2000.
She has contributed to the nursing field as a member of the Arab Board of Nursing and Midwifery Specialization and the GCC Nursing Technical Committee and she has represented Kuwait's nursing sector at the WHO.
Dr. Maryam Almurshed is a pathologist in the field of anatomic pathology and neuropathology, as well as the director of Pathology Department of Sabah Hospital in Kuwait. Former Director of Medical Laboratory Department of Sabah Medical Subspecialty area. She got her MBBS from Kuwait Faculty of Medicine in 2006, followed by residency training in King Saud University Board of Anatomic Pathology in KSA. Her fellowship training was in the field of pediatric and adult neuropathology in both Toronto General and Sick Kids Hospitals in Toronto, Canada in 2016. She is a mentor for the under-training residents in the board of anatomic pathology, neurosurgery and neurology. She is an active participant in both local and international conferences, as well as contributing to literature publication in the field.
Sarah Marzouq is an Occupational Therapist with a Bachelor’s degree from Kuwait University. Currently working as a pediatric occupational therapist at the Ministry of Health, she helps children develop essential skills for daily activities like play, self-care, and school tasks, addressing sensory, motor, and cognitive needs etc.. As co-founder of Grow Pediatric Services, Sarah contributes to a holistic approach in child development, with a specialized focus on feeding challenges to promote well-rounded growth and development.
Dr. Obeidat is the director of the Cancer Control Office at King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC). She is also the director of KHCC's Tobacco Dependence Treatment Training Program, which is the first program outside the USA to receive full accreditation from the Council for Tobacco Treatment Training Programs (CTTTP). Dr. Obeidat is a pharmacist with a PhD in Health Outcomes Research and has several years of experience in Tobacco Control Research and Tobacco Dependence Treatment (TDT). As a TDT trainer, Dr. Obeidat focuses on various topics such as the pharmacotherapeutic management of smoking cessation, the clinical aspects of tobacco dependence and its treatment, and establishing and evaluating TDT services in clinical practice. Her research on TDT includes characterizing and evaluating TDT services at KHCC, understanding barriers to offering TDT, and using research findings to develop interventions that can improve accessibility to and quality of TDT services.
Alghalia AlQabandi is a Registered Dietitian with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and a Master’s in Nutrition and Dietetics from Boston University. She is a pediatric dietitian at the Ministry of Health, providing nutrition counseling, medical nutrition therapy, and personalized plans that support children’s growth and foster healthy relationships with food. Alghalia is also the co-founder of Grow Pediatric Services, a holistic service offering nutrition and occupational therapy, with a primary focus on addressing feeding challenges and supporting the whole child.
Dr. Manal Bouhaimed is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the College of Medicine, Kuwait University. She is the first Kuwaiti woman qualifying as a consultant Vitreoretina Ophthalmologist and the first clinical ethicist in Kuwait.
After completing basic medical education at Kuwait University and clinical medical education at Glasgow University, Dr. Bouhaimed fulfilled the residency training requirements in the UK, to be among the first group of Kuwaiti female surgeons recognized as fellows of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Academically, she pursued graduate studies and received a Master’s degree in Ophthalmology & Eye Banking from Bristol University and a PhD in Ethics from the department of Philosophy, Glasgow University.
Her post-doctoral and subspecialty fellowships were achieved at the Mclean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics at University of Chicago, Medical Retina in Cardiff University, Surgical Vitreoretina and Uveitis at King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital, KSA
Dr. AlKhaledi is a pediatric pulmonary and sleep medicine consultant leading the Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine Unit at Al-Sabah Hospital. Dr. AlKhaledi is a graduate of Kuwait University and completed his general pediatric residency at Freie Universität Berlin in 2010. He further pursued his fellowship in pediatric pulmonary medicine in 2013, followed by a fellowship in sleep medicine in 2017, at the a University of Alberta, Canada.
Dr. AlKhaledi's expertise lies in the diagnosis and management of respiratory and sleep disorders in children, with a particular interest in non-invasive ventilation for children with neuromuscular diseases.
Dr. Dina Ramadan graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, and after graduation, returned back to Kuwait and joined the Pediatric Department in Sabah Hospital. She did her Diploma in Child Health (DCH) in 1985. She became a member of Royal Collage of Physicians of Ireland (MRCP) in 1988. She was nominated and became a Fellow of Royal Collage of Physicians of Ireland (FRCP) in 2006. In addition, Dr Dina joined work in the Endocrine Unit of Sabah Hospital since 1992, till present time. Dr Dina is currently a consultant pediatrician and consultant metabolic specialist in Sabah Hospital. She officially established the first Metabolic Clinic in Kuwait, in Pediatric Department, Sabah Hospital in 1995. The metabolic clinic of Sabah Hospital was a well-needed clinic since it was the only clinic giving metabolic services to all children with inborn errors of metabolism in all Kuwait for a long time, until other hospitals had their own metabolic specialists and clinics. Sabah Hospital Metabolic Clinic was the first in Kuwait to begin enzyme replacement therapy for treatable lysosomal storage disorders. Through lectures and ward teachings given by Dr Dina, pediatricians in Sabah Hospital and elsewhere, were educated in understanding patients inborn errors of metabolism and their acute management. Dr Dina Ramadan also has several presentations internationally and locally, and has several publications in the field of endocrine and metabolic disorders.
Dr. Saeed is Pediatric neurologist at the Alsabah hospital since March 2022. Dr. Saeed obtained a degree in Medicine and Surgery ( MBBS ) from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Benghazi 1990. He further pursued his fellowship in pediatrics in 2020 at university of Cologne in Germany followed by speciality in neurology and EEG certificate at university of Darmstadt in Germany.
